Dyad Strategies Announces Model Code of Student Organization Conduct

Today, Dyad Strategies announced the release of its Model Code of Student Organization Conduct. The Dyad Model Code is the first model code designed specifically for helping campuses navigate student organizational conduct, and it features a process designed to promote student self-governance, increase student safety, and build goodwill between campus administrators and student organization leaders, advisors and other stakeholders.

The Dyad Model Code was collectively authored by a team of experts with extensive experience in both student conduct and fraternity/sorority advising, with perspectives grounded in their legal, research and practitioner frameworks. Members of the team include:

  • Gentry McCreary, Ph.D. – CEO and Managing Partner, Dyad Strategies

  • W. Scott Lewis, J.D. – Partner, TNG Consulting

  • Jonathan Sanders, Ph.D. – Associate Dean of Students, Louisiana State University

  • Isabelle Caputo, M.S. – Associate Director, Student Rights and Responsibilities, University of Denver

  • Jeremiah Shinn, Ph.D. – Vice President of Student Affairs, Louisiana State University

“For years, I have worked with campuses that were really struggling to figure out how to get student organization conduct right,” said Gentry McCreary, Dyad Strategies CEO. “Unlike general student conduct, there were no models out there for how to navigate misconduct among student organizations.”

“The result on many campuses was patchwork processes that lacked transparency for student leaders and organization stakeholders and overburdened student conduct professionals,” he said. “We saw a real need for a model policy designed to provide consistency, transparency, and due process for student organizations and their stakeholders, while limiting the amount of time and energy that conduct administrators spend on these cases.”

The Dyad Model Code is a free resource for college campuses looking to improve the manner in which they investigate and adjudicate organizational misconduct, and can be downloaded here

On May 7, 2020 at 3:00 EST, the developers of the Dyad Model Code will also host a free webinar for campuses. The webinar will provide context, an overview of the code’s features, best practices for use, and a Q&A with the code’s authors.
