Dyad Strategies
Whitepaper 2024
The Rapidly Changing Social Culture within Historically White Fraternities at Regional Comprehensive Universities.
Introduction and Overview
Conventional wisdom has, for decades, assumed that the social culture at regional comprehensive universities was significantly less problematic than at Power 5 institutions.
The data outlined in the 2024 Dyad Strategies whitepaper demonstrate that this is no longer the case. On nearly every measure of problematic social culture – socials status importance, alcohol consumption, social motivation to join, and social dominance hazing motivation – the differences between regional comprehensive universities and their flagship counterparts have essentially vanished. Collectively, the data outlined in this whitepaper paint a troubling picture. Fraternity chapters at regional comprehensive universities have become increasingly dangerous over the last several years, both in terms of social culture as well as hazing culture.
